Aldon Solutions for Regulatory Compliance
Software Engineering Institute / CMMI
The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense through the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics [OUSD (AT&L)]. The SEI's core purpose is to help others make measured improvements in their software engineering capabilities through Capability Maturity Models (CMMs).
Process improvement has proven to increase product and service quality as organizations apply it to achieve their business objectives. Today, the Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI) Product Suite is at the forefront of process improvement by providing the latest best practices for product and service development and maintenance.
CMMI provides:
- A common, integrated vision of improvement for all elements of an organization
- Efficient, effective improvement and appraisal across multiple disciplines
- Improvements to best practices incorporate from the Software CMM, EIA 731, IPD-CMM and others
- A means of representing new discipline-specific information in a standard, proven process-improvement context
There are five maturity levels of the CMMI:
